Abstract

The conflict between Sumatran tigers (Panthera tigris sumatrae) and local communities is a conservation issue that requires serious attention, including in Pasie Raya Subdistrict, Aceh Jaya Regency. The aim of this study is to identify the forms of conflict occurring between the community and Sumatran tigers, as well as the conflict management actions undertaken by the local people. This study uses the One Score One Criteria System approach, and data analysis was carried out using scoring analysis. The results show that the conflicts include attacks on livestock, threats to human safety, and damage to fields or plantations caused by wildlife. The main factors contributing to the conflict include habitat degradation due to land-use change, forest fragmentation, and a lack of conflict mitigation efforts. The impact of the conflict not only causes economic losses for the community but also leads to social tensions and poses a threat to the survival of the critically endangered Sumatran tiger population. Addressing the conflict between Sumatran tigers and local communities in Aceh Jaya requires the development of a community-based conflict management system.
