Abstract

The Krueng Keuruto Watershed ( DAS ) in Aceh Utara Regency frequently experiences flooding, especially during the rainy season from December to March. This study aims to analyze flood hazard levels using the GIS-based overlay method, considering key parameters such as slope gradient, rainfall, soil type, and land use. The results classify the study area into five flood hazard levels: very low (772.49 ha), low (12,609.90 ha), moderate (33,971.52 ha), high (7,648.22 ha), and very high (19,262.02 ha). Areas with very high flood hazard are characterized by high rainfall, clay-textured soil, and gentle slopes, which slow water flow and increase flood risk. GIS-based mapping proves to be an effective tool for identifying flood-prone areas, providing valuable information for disaster mitigation planning in Aceh Utara Regency.
