Floods are natural disasters that occur every rainy season, due to disruption of the hydrometeorological cycle, which has a large and detrimental impact on land damage and exposed residents in Aceh Province. This research aims to examine the causes, impacts, risks and community perceptions of the types and stages of flood disaster mitigation efforts in the Krueng Raya Aceh Besar watershed. The method applied in this research is a survey which uses questionnaires for data collection. The data analysis technique in this research uses qualitative descriptive data analysis techniques. The research results show: (1) Factors causing flood disasters, including: (a) Internal factors: Reduced water absorption by the soil or soil infiltration, and (b) External factors: High rainfall; (2) The impact of flood disasters, including: (a) Direct impact: Land and environmental damage, and (b) Indirect impact: The availability of clean water decreases; (3) The dominant risk of flood disasters is caused by a lack of coordination between stakeholders; (4) Parameters of public perception regarding flood disaster mitigation, including: (a) Level of response: Fairly responsive; (b) Level of understanding: Fair understanding, and (c) Level of assessment: Fairly good; (5) Community perception of types of flood disaster mitigation, including: (a) Vegetative Method: Reforestation in the Upper Watershed, (b) Civil Engineering Method: Terracing planting system, and (c) Non-Structural Method: Socialization and education on flood disaster mitigation.
