Abstract

Red sengon (Enterolobium cyclocarpum (Jacq.) Griseb) is one of the plant species suitable for planting in industrial plantation forest (HTI) and community plantation forest (HTR).  The objective of this study was to analyse the effect of compost and NPK fertiliser doses on the growth of red sengon seedlings. This study used a factorial randomised group design, namely: (1) compost dosage (0, 25 and 50 g Polibag-1) and (2) NPK fertiliser dosage (0, 2, 4 and 6 g Polibag-1), with 3 replications. The results showed that: (1) the application of compost fertiliser on the planting media had a very significant effect on the parameters of seedling height 30, 50 and 70 HSP, stem diameter 30, 50 and 70 HSP, root length and dry stool weight of Red Sengon seedlings, (2) the single application of NPK fertiliser had a very significant effect on the parameters of seedling height 30, 50 and 70 HSP, stem diameter 30, 50 and 70 HSP, root length and dry stool weight of Red Sengon seedlings, (3) The interaction between compost dose and NPK fertiliser dose has a significant effect on stem diameter at 30 HSP and a very significant effect on stem diameter at 50 and 70 HSP and root length, and (4) The interaction between the application of compost and NPK fertiliser at a dose of 50 g Polibag-1 and 4 g Polibag-1 is the best composition of planting media for Red Sengon seedlings, because it can increase the vegetative growth of the seedlings, especially the diameter of the stem at 30, 50 and 70 HSP, as well as the length of the root.
